Judy Edwards

I am a writer and conservationist who has lived in Hawaiʻi since 1994, when I got distracted on my way to Baja. I have been writing essays, poetry, and (for a brief period in junior high) plays since I was old enough to write. Favorite poets include Dylan Thomas, e.e. cummings, and Mary Oliver.

I graduated from the University of Texas, Austin, with a degree in English and Zoology, flipping back and forth between the two fields until English overtook Zoology and created almost, but not quite, a dual degree. In all of my conservation and public lands jobs I have been the one that writes the stuff that needs writing. I currently write interpretive copy, website content, and social media content for a nonprofit that supports national parks, and I freelance for Hawaiʻi magazines and websites. I will defend the Oxford comma all the days of my life.
